INSPIRATION:
Armed with a BFA in Metals/Jewelry and an MA in Art Education, I set-out to work in
the non-profit world of museum education & arts administration for six years. After the birth of my first son in January
2006, I was looking for an opportunity to mesh my creative talents and entrepeneurial interests with being a new mom...thus,
HapaChick was born the following Fall!
BACKGROUND:
The word “Hapa” is a Hawaiian slang word commonly used to describe individuals
like myself, who are of mixed racial heritage, usually with partial roots in Asian and/or Pacific Islander ancestry (my father
is Japanese and my mother is European). The other half of the name, "Chick" refers to my husband Andrew’s
childhood nickname.
